This niche would suprisingly become a very fufilling creative outlet for Paul, while starting out with some slightly more standard ASMR, he would go on to experiment and introduce new, strange ideas to his videos. In 2012, the landscape for that content was a very small group of people, especially compared to the huge juggernaut it would later become. However Paul has since wilfully deleted some of these original videos as they wouldn't fit his later brand of content.ĭuring the spring of 2012, Paul "stumbled upon" the ASMR scene on YouTube. These could perhaps be seen as a precursor to the sorts of video he would later be known for. This channel was composed of simple videos of nature, trees, clouds, and him playing the Native American Flute. Paul started his YouTube channel in 2011, the name "Ephemeral Rift" was simply two random words put together without any specific meaning, this was prior to his ASMR content. Paul has always had a creative mind, and spent a large amount of his 20's, 30's, and 40's trying to express this creativity beyond being the husband and father he aleady was.
